This year marks the 23rd annual Men’s Health Month. The purpose of Men’s Health Month is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.

- Depression in men is undiagnosed. Therefore, men are 4x as likely to commit suicide
- Men suffer hearing loss 2x rate of women
- Testosterone is linked to elevations in LDL (bad cholesterol) and declines in HDL (good cholesterol)
- Men tend to consume more alcohol, have a higher fat diet and smoke significantly more tobacco than women
- Men are 10x less likely than women to seek help for health problems, particular mental health
- Prostate cancer, one of the most common forms of cancer among men, is the 2nd leading cause of cancer death in American men each year
What Steps Can I Take for Better Health
- Eat a well-balanced diet high in fruits and vegetables
- Exercise moderately for at least 30 minutes a day 5 days a week
- Get your yearly check-up & complete monthly self-exams to check for changes in your body
- Have a yearly rectal exam to check for prostate cancer
- Quit smoking
- Take action to manage your stress
